One of the major functions of the TNPSC is to conduct Departmental Exams for Government Servants.
TNPSC conducts over 170 tests for Government of Tamil Nadu employees, including TNEB, TWAD & Chennai Metrowater, as required under various service rules.
The test is conducted twice a year where 60,000 employees take the exams every May and 25,000 every December.
TNPSC also conducts over 215 half-yearly tests for probationers of All India Services, IAS, IPS, IFS, State Civil Service, TN Police Service, TN Forest Service, etc.
