Age: Age should be between 21-32 yrs as on 1st January, 2011.
Education:
A candidate should possess a Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from a recognized University with at least 55 % of marks or its equivalent grade with a 2nd Class in the Bachelor’s Degree and a consistently good academic record; or Ph.D., D.Sc., D.Litt., M.Phil. & M.Litt. With at least 50% marks in Master’s Degree with a 2nd Class in the Bachelor’s Degree and a consistently good academic record.
Provided that candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall posses a Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from a recognized University with at least 50 % of marks or its equivalent grade with a 2nd Class in the Bachelor’s Degree and a consistently good academic record.
a) The examination will be conducted in the following successive stages –
i) Written Examination;
ii) Viva Voce (Personality Test)
b) The written examination will be in General English, General Knowledge and concerned subject.
General English and General Knowledge will be covered in one paper consisting of 100 marks.
The examination in the concerned subject will cover 400 marks consisting two papers i.e. Paper-I & Paper-II having 200 marks each.
Each Paper will be of 3 hours duration.
Candidates are required to answer the papers in English except the language papers.
c) The candidates shall be called for interview by the Commission in order of merit equal to three times the number of vacancies in any subject if the vacancies are up to 50 and such numbers not less than twice and not more than thrice the numbers of vacancies as the Commission may determine, when the vacancies exceed 50. Provided that for the vacancies upto 2, ten candidates and for the vacancies between 3 to 5, fifteen candidates shall be called by the Commission for viva voce test.
d) The Commission shall conduct the Viva Voce for 50 marks.
e) The Commission shall be competent to fix up the qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination and viva voce.

Forms can also be received by Speed Post/Registered Post on remittance of Rs. 70 by Bank Draft/Pay Order drawn in favor of Special Secretary, Odisha Public Service Commission payable at any Scheduled Bank at Cuttack along with a forwarding letter mentioning full name and address of the candidate, advertisement number and name of the Post/Service advertised in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS.
(ii) Application form can also be downloaded from http://opsc.nic.in.
The Un-reserved and S.E.B.C. candidates will be required to pay Rs. 80 (Rs.30 for the form + Rs. 50 for examination fee) by Bank Draft/Pay Order/Treasury.
The S.C. /S.T. candidates will be required to pay Rs.30 for the form and are exempted from paying the examination fee.
(iii) Submission of Applications: Candidates should send their applications by Registered Post/Speed post/Courier service or directly in OPSC office in closed covers. The closed envelope containing the application must mention “Application for the posts of Assistant Professors in ….................................. (Discipline to be mentioned)”.
